How to Play
Hello and welcome to Call It. When you first download the app things can get a little confusing, so this guide should get you set up and playing in no time. While this won’t cover every feature the game has to offer, it should provide enough information that you can begin participating in contests.
Step 1: Enroll in a Contest
After you have logged in go to “Play!” > “Find a Contest”
From here you can find any upcoming contest (game) you wish to play. Depending on your league preferences, you will see filters at the top of the screen, and tapping between them will filter the available contests you see by their respective leagues (NFL, NCAA, and UFL). After finding your desired contest, tap it and confirm the enrollment.
You should now find your self on the “Play Contests” page, but if for some reason you aren’t there, you can navigate there by returning to the home screen, going to from “Play!” > “Active Contest”
Step 2: Setting up the Contest
Once you are in the “Play Contests” page, you will see your newly enrolled contest. But there’s still a couple things you need to do to get started. You will notice a button called “Broadcast”, broadcasts across the U.S. have various offsets for time, and by telling us which broadcast you are watching on, you help us figure out what kind of delay you are watching on- after all we want you to earn points for that safety you knew was going to happen!
Tapping on the broadcast, you can see a list of pre-made broadcasts that we have detected based on your local zip code, these are typically establishments such as local bars in your area. You can find the one that matches your situation, or if you don’t see it you can create your own channel by tapping the “Create New Broadcast” button at the bottom of the screen. The steps should be self explanatory but if you have questions don’t hesitate to email us at social@callitofficial.com. And don’t worry, if you enroll in the wrong broadcast it isn’t the end of the world!
After you have set up your broadcast the only thing left to do is wait for the game to begin. Speaking of which…
Step 3: Bonus Kickoff
As kickoff approaches, there is one last thing to do. You will notice as you look at your contest there is a button labeled, “Bonus Kickoff”. Tap on it and you will navigate to a new screen with a single button in the center. When the kicker’s foot hits the football on the initial kickoff, tap that button. This is a synchronization kick that further helps our ability to give you real time odds based on what you are seeing. If you forget to tap it, you can always sync at the next kickoff. If you do this at the start of the game, you are awarded bonus points!
Step 4: Immersive View
That’s it for the setup, but what about playing the game? You will notice you have 2 more buttons on your contest, “Predict Drive” and “Immersive View”. predict drive is as it sounds, it allows you to make predictions. But if you aren’t playing multiple contests at once, the immersive view may be a better fit. Tap on it.
You will notice a graphic at the top with both team names and four stat lines. These are for players who have one of the two teams playing listed as their favorite team. They show the total combined points for all players who have that team as their favorite, the points per fan, or PPF, the accuracy (what percentage of predictions made by fans of that team are successful) and loyalty (how often are fans of that team making at least one prediction on a drive)
Below that you will see your total available points, how many points you have tied up in predictions (wagered) and how many points you have won. All that really matters for you at this time are your available points.
Below those you have two tabs, “predict drive” and “show predictions”. Show predictions simply shows what predictions you have made, and whether they are correct, incorrect, or not yet resolved (highlighted green, red, and white respectively).
“Predict Drive” is where the game happens. The first drop down let’s you select the team you want to make the prediction on- that is- the team who is on offense. Note you can make a prediction for a team who isn’t on offense yet, and on that team’s next offensive drive the game will evaluate your prediction. Under that, you have a drop down that shows you all available drive outcomes. Pick an outcome- the less likely the outcome, the more points you will win if you are correct. The odds are updated in real time, so a prediction of touch down when the team is on their own 1 yard line will pay out a lot more than that same prediction when they are at the opponent’s 1 yard line. Finally, in the last box type in the number of points you wish to risk on your prediction, and tap “Make Prediction” at the bottom of the screen.
You can make as many predictions as you wish for each drive, so have fun with it, hedge your bets, play around and see if you can find an optimal strategy!
